Dancing In Church

"Una dy dance for church?" I asked Debby after she told me about the last youth programme they just concluded in her church. “no we no dy dance” she answered and asked “na dance we go dance for church?”
“no” I answered and also asked “so wetin una go do for church?”
And she put her brain into thinking and still could not give me an answer.

This argument, view or whatever it is referred to about dancing in church has been unacceptable or rather not taken seriously by many believers from various churches world-wide. Some believe it is not so important to dance in church while others believe in dancing. It is extremely necessary to dance in church and how can one not do it?. Some would say “it is the kind of person the person in concern is and dancing in church is optional or voluntary. No sir! It is not. The only reason why one should dance in church is because obviously we don’t go to church for anybody but for God so therefore dancing in church is not for any human but for God. And when you say you believe in God you are also saying that you believe he is the keeper of your life and the keeper off your life definitely deserves some appreciation so it all comes down to how you give appreciation to God.

Now you may be saying that “I decide how to give appreciation to my God” Please let me know if there is another way to do it without praises and dances?” People believe the word is the only thing they should go to church to hear because everything one needs to serve God is there. Fine so you mean praising God with dancing and drums and horns and everything you can praise God with is not in the bible? The word, prayer and every other thing including paying of tithe and offering is for the individual and he/she will get back the blessing. The only thing that is meant tto be given to God is praises and thanksgiving and glory and honor. Praises from the heart, praises that you do with everything: your body, your voice, the drum, cymbal, tambourine, trumpet, flute, organ, guitar, dancing and every other thing. How can one claim to be singing praises to God and stand to a halt with only the mouth, and hands and eyes moving? If you were God and people praise you so coldly, would you accept the praise? Most people even sing and clap as if they are being forced to do it. It doesn’t even matter if you do not know how to dance well. The important thing is that you just do something that shows that you are praising from the debt of the heart.

After singing from the heart for sometimes, there comes one kind of urge to proceed to dancing and it happens to every human being. Most people kill the urge probably because they feel they don’t know how to dance and that people would laugh at them and that is why in Omega Fire Ministries, when I and some other people do the crazy dances, we remind ourselves that we are doing it for no human but for the God that gave us life and good health. And that’s how people should see it. Not the other way round. Fine you don’t want worldly dance to enter into the church then don’t dance worldly dance in the church. Just dance. Device the kind of dance you should dance in the church and let people from outside dance it with you. Let us not bring worldly dance into the church rather let’s take our Godly dance out to teach them. And remember praise God as it is written in the bible below:

Psalm 150
1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
6 Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.
